In the first half of 2023, China's new energy storage continued to develop at a high speed, with 850 projects (including planning, under construction and commissioned projects), more than twice that of the same period last year. The newly commissioned scale is 8.0GW/16.7GWh, higher than the new scale level last year (7.3GW/15.9GWh).
Of the global capacity, China’s operational energy storage project capacity totaled 32.7GW in Q3 of 2019, marking a growth of 4.1% compared to Q2 of the same year.
The installation of electrochemical energy storage in China saw a steep increase in 2018, with an annual growth rate of 464.4% for new capacity, an amount of growth that is rare to see. Subsequently, the lowering of electrochemical energy storage growth in China in 2019 compared to 2018 should be viewed rationally.
