By contrast, the concept of multi-functional energy storage systems is gaining momentum towards integrating energy storage with hundreds of new types of home appliances, electric vehicles, smart grids, and demand-side management, which are an effective method as a complete recipe for increasing flexibility, resistance, and endurance.
In the first half of 2023, China's new energy storage continued to develop at a high speed, with 850 projects (including planning, under construction and commissioned projects), more than twice that of the same period last year. The newly commissioned scale is 8.0GW/16.7GWh, higher than the new scale level last year (7.3GW/15.9GWh).
In order to mitigate climate change and transition to a low-carbon economy, such ambitious targets highlight the urgency of collective action. To meet these gaps and maintain a balance between electricity production and demand, energy storage systems (ESSs) are considered to be the most practical and efficient solutions.
