Abstract: A multi-mode carrier-based PWM strategy for open-end winding permanent-magnet synchronous motor (OW-PMSM) with isolated DC sources is proposed in this paper. For the proposed strategy, the independent reference voltages of both the two inverters are obtained by decomposing the reference voltage output from the controller.
Highlights are put on the non-zero vector PWM strategies (AZSPWM, RSPWM and NSPWM), scalar PWM strategies (PSC-PWM, CPPM) as well as modifications to compensate dead-time CMV spikes, quick polarity reverse in line-to-line voltage pulse and linearity modulation range limitation.
PWM techniques are a method of controlling the voltage and current in a machine. The most distinguished feature of these PWM techniques is that the required switching sequences can be generated by comparing a modulating wave with a common triangle. These PWM techniques employ sequence, which uses only two redundant zero voltage vectors (0 and 63) in each sector.
Due to the influence of modulation depth to the output performance, in every PWM algorithm, change the modulation index M ( (2)) from 0 to 0.91 (step size is set to 0.1) to simulate output CMV and phase current.
These SVPWM techniques produce higher distortion compared to other PWM methods. However, they are easily implemented on a controller that does not allow modification in carrier signal or initial state of modulating signal within a fundamental cycle. These techniques have been successfully tested by converting Simulink block set into C-code.
For all six PWM techniques, the Mmax values are 1.154. This is derived from the equation where Vp1 is the fundamental phase voltage and Vdc represents the dc link voltage. Initially, the dwell times are obtained to evaluate HDF.
