Such systems are termed as Fault Tolerant Control Systems and are getting intensive research attention for improved performance and stability. FTC strategies are now being implemented in production critical systems such as oil and gas and fertilizers where production loss cannot be accepted and system continual performance is mandatory.
An FTCS aims to accommodate faults in the system components during operation and maintain stability with little or acceptable degradation in the performance levels. Mathematical modeling of various types of faults in the sensors and actuators has been described with respect to FTC strategies.
By integrating fault diagnosis and controller design, a novel fault-diagnosis-based FTC strategy is proposed to compensate for the IF, and a sufficient condition is established for the fault detectability of the proposed scheme.
Experimental results on a Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platform show that the proposed fixed time fault tolerant control strategy has the characteristics of fast response and high robustness. 1. Introduction
One solution is to use PFTCS with AFTCS, PFTCS to respond quickly to faults while AFTC to optimize system performance. Hence, hybrid FTCS can provide both desirable properties of stability to unexpected fast disturbances and optimal performance.
