Independent power producer (IPP) Neoen and system integrator Nidec have started construction on a 93.9MW/93.9MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Sweden, the largest in the country.
Construction has begun on Sweden’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) undertaken by Neoen, an Independent Power Producer and Nidec, a system integrator. The project has been projected to come online in early 2025. Neoen is headquartered in Paris.
This is why we are now building Sweden’s largest Battery Energy Storge Solution (BESS) of 10 MW, which will be located in Grums, in western Sweden. The main function of the system is to better balance the national grid networks.
Wildpoldsried, March 26th, 2024 – sonnen, one of the world’s technology leaders for smart and digital connected energy storage, today announced the start of its Virtual Power Plant in Sweden. As a precondition, sonnen has been rigorously testing the seamless integration with the national grid with 35 distributed households for a number of months.
13 February 2024 SWEDEN – The energy storages are being built in Falköping (16 MW), Karlskrona (16 MW), Katrineholm (20 MW), Mjölby (8 MW), Sandviken (20 MW), Vaggeryd (11 MW), Värnamo (20 MW) and Västerås (11 MW). A storage with a power of 20 MW correlates to what a Swedish town with 40,000 inhabitants on average consumes during peak hours.
That battery network stands ready to stabilise the grid in the event of grid fluctuations, that could cause a disruption in the power supply to homes across Sweden. With this configuration, households unleash the full potential of their battery system and save electricity costs.
